NSA Mid-South School Liaison
Naval Support Activity Mid-South is in Shelby County, TN, home to seven independent school districts: Arlington Community Schools, Bartlett City Schools, Collierville Schools, Germantown Municipal Schools, Lakeland School System, Millington Municipal Schools and Memphis Shelby County Schools. There are three additional counties surrounding the installation which families also utilize: Tipton County Schools, Fayette County Schools and Desoto Schools (located in MS). There is one installation School Liaison which supports NSA Mid-South and a 50-mile catchment radius. Each school district offers unique options for students in PreK-12th grade. The School Liaison helps military families navigate school transitions and supports students during moves between schools. Here’s how they can assist you:
- School Transition Services (PCS Cycle): School Liaison assist families with school transfers for military children and youth.
- Deployment Support: School Liaisons connect educators with the Navy deployment support system.
- Command, School, Community Communications: School Liaisons serve as subject-matter experts for installation commanders on K-12 concerns.
- Homeschool Linkage and Support: School Liaisons assist Navy families by gathering and sharing information on local home schooling policies.
- Partnerships in Education (PIE): PIE creates a volunteer network of resources to support installation and community members.
- Post-Secondary Preparations: School Liaisons leverage installation and school resources to for graduating military students.
- Special Needs System Navigation: School Liaisons provide information about installation and community programs and services.

School Liaison
The School Liaison Program was established under Child and Youth Education Systems (CYES) and falls under the Child and Youth Programs (CYP) umbrella under the Morale Welfare and Recreation of the U.S. Navy. It is designed to help families with PreK-12 Education system navigation. The School Liaison Program serves all branches and is established throughout the Navy.
